Volunteer Roles

This is to give you an idea of what the different volunteer roles involve (but these are by no means set in stone!)

Advanced class planner/teacher:

Teaching assistants:

Key holder opening up: You need a key for the Common Place. You need to arrive by 12pm and unlock the front doors and the back fire exit. Maybe also be the one to make sure there is veg or go to the market if there isn't?

Key holder closing: Make sure all the washing up is done, that chairs and tables are arranged neatly, that all resources from the lesson are put away, that everything is switched off and there is no one left in the building. Then lock up. Often there might be another group using the building afterwards so just make sure they have a key to close after themselves etc.

Childcare volunteer: Take care of the kids, play games
with them or make sure they're happy on the computers. Try to keep them busy and not bothering their parents!

26th April - Intermediate - Past simple negation and questions. Asking about a trip. Creating stories using pictures. Beginners - Dates and days. Questions.
19th April - Intermediate - Past simple irregular verbs via sightseeing in London and Yellow by Coldplay. Conversation and pronunciation. Beginners - Dates, days, months, festivals, years
12th April - Intermediate - p's 9 and 13 of book - Greetings. Will Vs Going to future. Pronunciation.
5th April - Intermediate - activities based on cities in the uk using page 2, unit4, from Entry 3 materials and asking and answering questions using present perfect.'have you been to london?' Beginners - pronunciation of sounds, money & numbers and making a shopping list
29th March - Beginners - Food and shopping. Intermediate - spelling and pronunciation of past simple regular verbs. Present perfect for life experience. Reading about charity fundraiser. Talking about important events in your life
Beginners classes until March 22nd 2008 - Time, directions, reading bus timetables and transport, parts of the body, booking doctors appointment roleplay, seeing the doctor roleplay
Intermediate classes until March 22nd 2008 - Chapter 1 of Entry 2 - Adverbs of Frequency. Debating skills. Telephoning roleplay. Present continuous to talk about definite future plans. Chapter 2 pages 1-4, forming verbs in the simple past
9th Feb - Talking about culture and festivals from ENTRY 2 book pages 1-5. Present simple verbs and Diwali reading. Song "Imagine".
2nd Feb - numbers and time - whole class lesson covering numbers, describing ourselves (age, shoe size, house number etc), then telling the time and doing daily routines with times.
24th Nov - Beginners - The lesson was about feelings, and it aimed to give the students the language to describe their feelings in the present simple and simple past.
24th Nov - intermediate/advanced gp - tenses simple past/simple present
